WATCH: Kyrgios celebrates first-round win with sip of fan's beer

By now, fans know what to expect from Nick Kyrgios: the unexpected. On Tuesday, the Aussie showed his home crowd how to hit a tweener serve, struck a tweener mid-rally and ended it all with a beer on the court. His straight-set win over Liam Broady was a cause for celebration and the festivities started on John Cain Arena.

Taking his time with his beloved fans, he stopped to make sure everyone snapped their photo and signed autographs, but one fan offered Kyrgios a swig of his beer. At first, the 26-year-old shook his head no, but he quickly changed his mind and sipped the beer with a smile and laugh. The definition of box-office entertainment should undoubtedly be the world No. 115.

ICYMI, here's a look at the tweener serve which instantly ignited the crowd in the opening set. Also, important to note is each time the 2015 Australian Open quarterfinalist hit a tweener he won the point.

Next up for the Aussie is last year's Australian Open finalist and 2022's No. 2 seed Daniil Medvedev. Kyrgios took out the Russian on both occasions back in 2019, but Medvedev believes they were different players back then and his experiences make him a completely different player today.

"I think our last match was so long ago and we are both so different and a different momentum of our careers that it's really tough to count it. As I say, win or lose, I don't think these two matches gonna count into this one," Medvedev said following his opening-round win.

While Kyrgios counts his success against the world No. 2, he also agrees they both are coming into this second-round affair with a different momentum. He's also not planning or thinking about the match too much, but rather taking in the little moments with his team and enjoying the process of playing tennis at a major event.

"To be honest, I don't really care at the moment. When I cross that bridge of playing Daniil when I walk out there, that's when I will deal with that," Kyrgios said.

Kyrgios also got in some good quality reps on the doubles court on Wednesday alongside countryman Thanasi Kokkinakis. The Aussie duo moved past Alex Bolt and James Mccabe 6-4, 6-2.
