Here's a look at each match point Sevastova saved, each more impressive than the last:

1

Mertens had her first match point at 5-4, 40-30 in the third set. A sizzling inside-out forehand winner from Sevastova shut that hope down.

2

At 5-6, Ad-out, Mertens had another chance. This time Sevastova relentlessly attacked and ended the point at the net with a bold forehand swinging volley.

3

A few points later, Mertens had match point No. 3. After a long rally, Sevastova went for her signature drop shot, and the risk paid off.

4

At 8-9, Sevastova saved the fourth match point with a huge unreturnable serve to Merten's backhand side.

Later that same game, Sevastova ripped a backhand down-the-line winner to save what would be Mertens' final chance.

In Mertens' defense, she didn't really lose any of those points, Sevastova earned them. For her hard work and incredible nerves of steel, the No. 12 seed is into the fourth round of the clay-court Slam for the first time. She'll play Marketa Vondrousova on Sunday.
