At this point in the pre-season, players are looking to make the most out of their training time and squeeze in as much last-minute preparation as possible before the new year begins. For former World No. 1 Victoria Azarenka, the extra reps almost proved to be a hazard as she found herself literally locked inside her local tennis court after closing time.

Azarenka, who capped off 2021 with a run to the Indian Wells final, has been keeping fans up to date with the hilarious highs and lows of her pre-season on social media—including a time when the 32-year-old accidentally put wristbands on her feet instead of socks.

Azarenka’s latest ‘pre-season chronicle’ featured the two-time Grand Slam winner having to hop a fence after her tennis club locked the gates on the Belarusian and her team.

But while Azarenka eventually made her way out—with the help of two members of her team and a handy towel— her fence-jumping technique left many fans scratching their heads.

“There is an interesting amount of people who are surprised that I can’t jump the fence ‘properly’,” Azarenka wrote. “Is this something that you should be good at or what?”

Azarenka, currently ranked World No. 27, will be looking to get plenty more practice in before heading to Australia, where she won both of her Grand Slam titles in 2012 and 2013.
