Jessica Pegula is having one heck of a year. It all started at the 2021 Australian Open when she raced to the quarterfinals before falling to friend Jennifer Brady. It marked her best Grand Slam showing and from there she didn't slow down. Following the Aussie Open she managed to reach the quarterfinals or better on six occasions and last month climbed to world No. 23, her highest career ranking.

Currently she's having an amazing run at the BNP Paribas Open, defeating No. 4 seed Elina Svitolina, 6-1, 6-1, to move into the last eight.

The 27-year-old has much to celebrate not only on the court but off of it too. Pegula is preparing for her wedding which is next Friday. She will walk down the aisle and into forever with her partner Taylor Gahagen come next week, and she admitted during Tennis Channel Live that it feels odd to still be in the California desert with the wedding just 10 days away.

"Hopefully I get back Sunday or Monday next week, but I'm supposed to get married next Friday," Pegula told Tennis Channel host Steve Weissman on Tuesday. "So it does seem weird that I'm still here playing a tournament.

"But, it's also kind of nice, I just get to play Indian Wells and then go get married. So it's not a bad couple of weeks."

While she's having a pretty seamless week in paradise, she does have one concern and that's her good friend, Jen (Brady).

"I invited her (to the wedding) and I'm slightly worried. I don't know if she has a dress, she keeps saying she's going to look for one but every time I ask her she's like 'yeah I'll go look today' and I'm like you're not. She says that every single day.

"So I'm a little worried. I was talking to Madison Keys, and she was like 'I guarantee if she comes back to Orlando she's going to be like hey, do you have a dress that I can wear.'" So yeah, definitely do not trust her."

Dress or no dress, it will be a win for Pegula.

The world No. 24 will battle two-time major champion Victoria Azarenka on Wednesday for a spot in the semifinals.
