The 2025 Australian Open men’s singles draw is out and all eyes are on the bottom half of the draw and the projected quarterfinal clash between No. 3 seed Carlos Alcaraz and 10-time champion Novak Djokovic—with defending champ Jannik Sinner looming on the opposite half.

Alcaraz, who will play Alexander Shevchenko in his first round, is yet to play an official match in 2025, and could face Aussie Jordan Thompson as his first seeded opponent in the third round, with possible fourth-round foes including No. 15 seed Jack Draper and No. 22 seed Sebastian Korda.

Djokovic began his year in Brisbane, reaching the quarterfinals in singles and enjoying an entertaining week in doubles alongside Nick Kyrgios. The No. 7 seed, Djokovic is set to play his first tournament under the eye of new coach and longtime rival Andy Murray, and will play his first round against American wild card Nishesh Basavareddy. He could get a Brisbane rematch against Reilly Opelka should both reach the third round.

Meanwhile, top seed Jannik Sinner anchors the top half of the draw; Sinner will begin his title defense against Nicolas Jarry, with hometown favorite and No. 8 seed Alex de Minaur looming in the quarterfinals. De Minaur will play his first round against Botic van de Zandschulp.

The Italian is coming off a banner season that had its share of struggles, mostly off-court as he fought to beat an anti-doping rule violation charge—one that WADA is currently appealing. As it stands, Sinner is free to compete at the Australian Open, which he won last year for his first of two major victories.

Countryman Flavio Cobolli is Sinner's first projected seed in the third round (No. 32), and Sinner could get a popcorn fourth round against No. 13 seed Holger Rune.

Sinner is then projected to face No. 4 seed Taylor Fritz in what would be a rematch of their 2024 US Open and ATP Finals final. Fritz, who has struggled to make in-roads against Sinner, has otherwise been one of the toughest outs in men’s tennis of late, beginning 2025 alongside countrywoman Coco Gauff, at United Cup. Together, they helped lead the United States to an emphatic victory, defeating Poland in the final. Fritz will play his first match against Jenson Brooksby.

Fritz's projected quarterfinal is No. 5 seed Daniil Medvedev, who will be looking to avenge an ATP Finals defeat to the American last fall. The 2024 finalist will open against Kasidit Samrej, with No. 25 seed Alexei Popyrin his first seeded opposition.

An intriguing all-American first round includes No. 21 seed Ben Shelton and Brandon Nakashima, while Kyrgios looms as a potential third round for Zverev. He will open against Jacob Fearnley.
