Alex de Minaur vs. Reilly Opelka

The semifinal action was kicked off with Australian Alex de Minaur edging American Reilly Opelka in the rollercoaster three set match. The Aussie held off twenty-eight aces from Opelka to reach the final with a 7-6(4), 6-7(5), 6-3 win.

The two 21-and-under stars were neck and neck with no service breaks in the first two sets. It wasn't until the final set de Minaur was able to crack Opelka's 47 consecutive service holds during this week's play. The 20-year-old improved his head-to-head record to 2-0 against the American. The last time the two battled was earlier this year in the second round of Sydney where de Minaur won in two sets and went on to capture his home tournament.

De Minaur became the youngest finalist in tournament history and will face Taylor Fritz for the Atlanta title. The 20-year-old will be looking to capture his second ATP title of the season on Sunday.

Taylor Fritz vs. Cameron Norrie

In the last semifinal matchup American Taylor Fritz fought his way past Cameron Norrie, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, to reach his first Atlanta Open final.

Fritz came out the gates fast and fired away on first serves which resulted in a quick 6-1 set over frustrated  Norrie. It appeared Norrie was flustered by things happening on and off the court, but the Brit turned things around when he captured the second set 6-3.

Fritz, who was tense to start the third set, had opportunities to break Norrie but played it too safe and left Norrie with easy put-away shots. At 3-2, Fritz decided to let his shots go and revealed the same aggressive play he showcased in the first set to break the Brit. He followed it up with an easy hold to take a 5-2 lead.

Fritz finished the match on his racket with three aces and a match winning volley. The 21-year-old is now 2-1 in the head-to-head record against Norrie. The American won his first ATP title last month in Eastbourne, and just like his final-round opponent, will be hungry for his second ATP title.
