ATP to investigate Orléans Challenger dispute between Corentin Moutet and Adrian Andreev

The ATP is investigating the on-court confrontation between Corentin Moutet and Adrian Andreev following their second-round encounter in the Orléans Challenger this week, according to the Frenchman's coach.

Laurent Raymond told L'Equipe that Moutet would get notified of any penalties following the referee's investigation, which will include speaking to the umpire.

The No. 64 lost 2-6, 7-6(3), 7-6(3) against the Bulgarian Andreev, and as the two shook hands, Andreev swung his shoulder aggressively against Moutet, who then shoved his opponent, starting a back and forth exchange. The umpire broke up the altercation.

On social media, Moutet said he would not apologize for the incident, claiming that his opponent swore at him twice during the contest.

Raymond told L'Equipe he had not noticed anything unusual except, he added, "The only difference, they faced each other a few days ago at the Genoa challenger."

Andreev won that encounter, also in three tight sets, and according to Raymond, had some taunts for Moutet during the handshake.

"But it didn't go any further," he said.

Raymond also confirmed there had been no further interaction between the players. "I know they wanted to meet but there was no explanation, or physical contact," he said. "Back at the hotel, there was nothing abnormal."

Potential penalties could include a fine or suspension for the players.
