Ben Shelton vs. Jiri Lehecka: Match Preview
The last remaining fourth-round match in the men's draw takes place on Grandstand on Thursday afternoon, and features one of the hottest players on the tour, Shelton, against the always-dangerous Lehecka.
Shelton is on an eight-match winning streak, having captured the biggest title of his career in Toronto last week, and he's won 15 of his last 17 matches overall. He's now a win away from reaching the quarterfinals at back-to-back Masters 1000 events for the first time in his career.
Standing in the world No. 6's way will be world No. 26 Lehecka, who's beaten big names before—he has eight career wins over Top 10 players, including three this year against Grigor Dimitrov in Brisbane, Carlos Alcaraz in Doha and Jack Draper at Queen's Club.
Shelton won the pair's only previous meeting, 6-4, 6-4, in the quarterfinals of the grass-court event in Stuttgart earlier this year. The American's serve was at a scary level that day—he blasted 18 aces (to just three double faults), never lost a point on his first serve (28/28), and not only did he never face a break point, he was never even pushed to deuce in 10 service games that day.
Will he serve up another storm on the hard courts of Cincinnati?
