INTERVIEW: Talking with Bibi in Canada

Bianca Andreescu has appointed a new coach following her split with Sven Groeneveld a few weeks ago.

The Canadian has brought on Christophe Lambert, Tennis New Zealand's high performance director, who has also previously done some coaching for Tennis Canada.

The pair will start offseason training together next week, according to local press.

"It was an offer I couldn’t refuse," he said.

The former No. 4, who won the 2019 US Open, delayed her start to this season to take a mental break and, apart from a couple of Top 10 wins and reaching the final of Bad Homburg, has not returned to the heights she has previously reached.

Groeneveld announced that he was leaving Andreescu's team and looking for a new player to coach, but did not explain further. The veteran coach started working with her during 2021, a season of repeated injuries for Andreescu.

Having now returned to playing a regular schedule, Andreescu is No. 45 in the rankings.
