So far this week we’ve covered the players with the most titles and the most wins on the tour this year, and today we're highlighting the biggest jumps on the ATP and WTA rankings over the last year.

Let’s begin with the biggest jumps between the year-end WTA rankings from last year (November 6, 2023) and this year (November 11, 2024).

The biggest jump into the
WTA Top 10: Emma Navarro, at 30 spots (No. 38 to No. 8)
WTA Top 20: Anna Kalinskaya, at 63 spots (No. 77 to No. 14)
WTA Top 50: Amanda Anisimova, at 323 spots (No. 359 to No. 36)

And here are the 10 biggest jumps into the WTA Top 100:

  • infinite: Naomi Osaka (unranked to No. 59)
  • +464: Ajla Tomljanovic (No. 549 to No. 85)
  • +323: Amanda Anisimova (No. 359 to No. 36)
  • +227: Emma Raducanu (No. 285 to No. 58)
  • +179: Lulu Sun (No. 219 to No. 40)
  • +164: Caroline Wozniacki (No. 236 to No. 72)
  • +163: McCartney Kessler (No. 231 to No. 68)
  • +146: Sonay Kartal (No. 235 to No. 89)
  • +131: Suzan Lamens (No. 218 to No. 87)
  • +125: Moyuka Uchijima (No. 181 to No. 56)

There are some very familiar names among the above list, including a pair of former world No. 1s—Osaka and Wozniacki—who were playing their first full seasons since coming back to the tour as moms. Wozniacki made her comeback in the summer of 2023, while Osaka actually returned to action at the start of the 2024 season without a ranking, and both ended up within striking distance of the year-end Top 50.

Raducanu, a former No. 10, nearly got back into the Top 50 herself after an injury-marred 2023, and Anisimova actually did return to the Top 50 after taking an extended break from the sport last year.

Osaka returned at the start of this year unranked after 15 months of maternity leave, and finished the year at No. 59. She had six Top 20 wins in her comeback season, including a Top 10 win over Ostapenko at the US Open.

Among the biggest movers on the men’s tour in the last year was French up-and-comer Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, who not only reached the second week of a major for the first time at Wimbledon, but also served up his first two ATP titles—first at the ATP 250 clay-court event in Lyon in the spring and then at the ATP 500 indoor event in Basel in the fall.

Anisimova finished 2023 at No. 359 after ending her season in April due to personal reasons. She returned at the start of 2024 and finished it all the way up at No. 36.
