Boris Becker appears set to be returned to Germany next week, having secured a reduction in his British prison sentence.

Having been convicted of fraud for hiding assets during bankruptcy, the six-time Grand Slam winner is eight months into a two-and-a-half year sentence.

According to the Mirror, Becker was eligible for a British government program that allows foreign prisoners to be returned to their home countries rather than having to complete their full prison sentences.

"I’m sure it will mean a lot to him and his family to be reunited for Christmas," a spokesperson had said previously.

In October, it was reported Becker was teaching yoga to fellow inmates.

A court ruling had found Becker had not declared £2.5 million in assets.

Since retiring from the game, the German, a resident of London, had launched his own clothing line, done commentary for television, and been a coach for Novak Djokovic.

Becker will not be allowed to return to the U.K. for the full term of his sentence.
