Coco Gauff vs. Dayana Yastremska: Match Preview
After capturing her second Grand Slam title at Roland Garros, Coco Gauff had a difficult grass-court season, losing her opening matches at both Berlin and Wimbledon.
Two days ago in Cincinnati, she got revenge for her loss in Berlin—having fallen to China's Wang Xinyu in the German capital, 6-3, 6-3, she defeated her 6-3, 6-2 this time, going five-for-five on break points (and fighting off five of the seven she faced herself).
And today at the WTA 1000 event, the No. 2-seeded Gauff will have a chance at avenging her Wimbledon loss, as she takes on No. 32-seeded Dayana Yastremska, who took her out in straight sets in the first round at the All England Club, 7-6 (3), 6-1.
Gauff leads their overall head-to-head, 3-1, having beaten the big-hitting Ukrainian three times on clay before falling to her in their first meeting on grass. This will be the pair's first career meeting on hard courts.
