Danielle Collins just kept piling on the wins on Thursday, storming past France’s Clara Burel, 6-1, 6-3, to move through to the semifinals of the WTA 500-level clay court event in Strasbourg.

She’s now won 21 of her last 23 matches.

And with her latest win, a re-breakthrough—as per the WTA, Collins is now projected to return to the Top 10 when the new rankings come out after the tournament.

The American, who’s playing her last year on the professional tour this year, has made a meteoric rise up the rankings over the last three-and-a-half months, going from No. 71 in mid-February to her current ranking of No. 12—and now into the Top 10.

DANIELLE COLLINS’ 2024 RANKING RISE:
No. 71 to No. 63 on February 12th [after 2nd Rd in Abu Dhabi]
No. 63 to No. 46 on February 19th [after QFs in Doha]
No. 53 to No. 22 on April 1st [after winning Miami]
No. 22 to No. 15 on April 8th [after winning Charleston]
No. 15 to No. 12 on May 20th [after SFs in Rome]
No. 12 to Top 10 on May 27th [after Strasbourg]

The two weeks of Roland Garros will be Collins’ 20th and 21st career weeks in the Top 10. She spent her first 19 weeks in the Top 10 in 2022—one week at No. 10 after reaching the Australian Open final, then 18 more weeks in the elite between April and August, including one week at a career-high No. 7 (the week of July 11th).

Collins has now reached the semifinals or better at four of the last five tournaments she's played.

Awaiting her in the semifinals of Strasbourg will be either Marketa Vondrousova or Anhelina Kalinina, whose quarterfinal match was postponed until the first match of the day on Friday due to rain.

Collins is 0-3 against Vondrousova and 1-3 against Kalinina, but she hasn’t played against either of them since 2022.
