Andreeva Federer

Following her third-round win at Wimbledon Saturday, Mirra Andreeva was asked by Tennis Channel’s Steve Weissman which celebrity or athlete she would hope to see in the Royal Box during a future match?

Unable to pick just one, the 18-year-old ultimately listed Roger Federer, Andy Murray and Ryan Gosling as her ideal choices.

Forty-eight hours later, Andreeva’s wish came true in a victorious Centre Court debut. With Federer watching on alongside wife Mirka, the Russian wrapped up a 6-2, 6-3 victory against 2024 quarterfinalist Emma Navarro.

Andreeva, naturally, saw her nerves increase once spotting the eight-time champion in plain sight.

“I really tried my best not to look over there. I knew as soon I would look there, I would completely lose my focus. So I did, at 4-1,” she told the crowd.

“I saw Roger and Mirka. Honestly it means a lot to me that you came and watched my match. It’s been one of my dreams to see you in real life.”

Added Andreeva, “When I saw both of you, I got really, really nervous. I’m super happy that I managed to keep playing focused. Just wanted to say real quick Mirka, you look very pretty. I really like your outfit.”

The sixth seed hasn’t dropped a set thus far in reaching her second major quarterfinal. Andreeva meets Belinda Bencic on Wednesday for a chance to match her 2024 Roland Garros performance, but before that battle commences, has another order of business to take care of.

Being at the helm. When her coach Conchita Martinez takes the court for legends doubles, Andreeva intends on swapping roles with the 1994 Wimbledon champion.

“I’m going to get my revenge, finally!” exclaimed Andreeva.

“I’m already thinking about a poster that I will make. I will come to the court and support and obviously coach. That’s my time to get back at her.”

Bencic, in her first full year back on tour from maternity leave, booked her best result at the All England Club. The former Olympic gold medalist knocked out No. 18 seed Ekaterina Alexandrova, 7-6 (4), 6-4.
