Elena Rybakina will pass Iga Swiatek for No. 2 when the new WTA rankings are released next Monday, the WTA has projected.
It’ll be a new career-high for the two-time Grand Slam champion.
The shift comes after Thursday’s quarterfinals at Indian Wells, where Swiatek—the current No. 2—fell to Elina Svitolina, and Rybakina—the current No. 3—defeated Jessica Pegula. Swiatek will be dropping points, having reached the semis last year, while Rybakina will be adding points, having fallen fourth round last year.
Both of them lost to Mirra Andreeva here a year ago.
