A day after reaching her first grass-court semifinal in Bad Homburg, Germany, world No. 1 Iga Swiatek pulled out of the tournament because of "fever and possible food poisoning."

The world No. 1 and Roland Garros champion is slated to face world No. 33 Zhu Lin in the first round of Wimbledon. Swiatek, a former junior Wimbledon champion, is bidding to get beyond the fourth round of the grass-court Grand Slam for the first time.

"I wouldn't even call myself close to being an expert on grass but I'm making progress," the 22-year-old Pole said on Thursday after defeating Anna Blinkova, 6-3, 6-2. It was the Pole's 10th consecutive victory across all surfaces, dating back to the opening round of Roland Garros.

"Hopefully I'm going to be able to play like that for the next three weeks," added Swiatek, who had won six straight sets on grass.
