Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek extended her winning streak to nine straight matches by defeating Germany's Eva Lys on Friday night at the Omnium Banque Nationale, 6-2, 6-2.

Despite only serving at 53%, second-seeded Swiatek was not given much resistance by German world No. 69 Eva Lys in IGA Stadium. Swiatek broke serve twice in each set, and saved the only break point she faced in the match when already up 6-2, 3-0.

Afterwards, Swiatek said "I’m happy I just did my job.”

“I just focused on myself and knew what my plan was," she said. "Eva played some great down the lines and was able to play some fast balls. It wasn’t easy."

Swiatek may have said things against Lys weren't easy, but the scoreboard so far has said otherwise.

She has only dropped eight games in four sets in Canada after winning her sixth Grand Slam singles title nearly a month ago at the All England Club, and has been the top seed with the easiest path through the draw at the WTA 1000 event so far. Both No. 3 seed Jessica Pegula and No. 4 seed Mirra Andreeva lost in the third round, while top seed and Roland Garros champion Coco Gauff has escaped two consecuitive three-setters against Danielle Collins and Veronika Kudermetova.

But if the Pole is any level of superstitious, she'll likely be paying special attention to her fourth-round foe, No. 23 seed Clara Tauson.

Swiatek is 3-0 against the Dane all-time, and in their two matches at WTA tour level, Swiatek has gone on to win the tournament.
