The 2025 PPA season is here, with former tennis pro Jack Sock is off to an undefeated beginning.

This week, the PPA Masters in Palm Springs, Calif. is hosting the best of the best in five tournament brackets: men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles, and mixed doubles.

Competing in all three eligible brackets, he’s teaming up with Collin Shick in men’s doubles—and former Wimbledon finalist Genie Bouchard in mixed.

Seeded No. 9 in singles, Sock shut down Connor McCartney, 11-3, 11-2, in just 22 minutes. His second match of the day was a 24-minute contest, as he and Bouchard made easy work out of 45th seeds Camila Zilveti and Patrick Smith. In the round of 32, the 20th seeds face 13th seeds AJ Koller and Meghan Dizon.

Also seeded No. 20 in men’s doubles, Sock and Shick fought off round of 64 opponents Wil Shaffer and Jace Morris in a close 11-4, 11-8 match.

Three wins in one day’s work sounds like Sock is off to a successful start to the 2025 PPA season.

The pair meets Donald Young and partner Travis Rettenmaier in the round of 32. Tennis fans recall that Rettenmaier also played on the ATP tour, turning pro in 2002 and earning an ATP 250 doubles title in 2010.

Seeded 14th in men’s doubles, the tennis pair has yet to compete in that draw, however, Young began his 2025 season on the first day in the other two eligible events.

He won his opening singles match against 47th seed Grayson Goldin in straight games, losing just one point total, and lost a three-game battle with Leah Tauber in mixed doubles to the 16th seeds Jay Devilliers and Callie Smith.
