With his 7-5, 7-6 (5) semifinal victory against Andrey Rublev in Vienna on Saturday, 22-year-old Italian Jannik Sinner has made history—it was his 55th win of the year, breaking the record for most wins for an Italian man in a single year in the Open Era.

He was just the third to even reach 50 wins in a season.

ITALIAN MEN WITH 50+ WINS IN A YEAR IN OPEN ERA (tour-level):
55: Jannik Sinner in 2023 (so far)
54: Corrado Barazzutti in 1978
53: Adriano Panatta in 1975

And why stop at 55? Sinner could add another win to that total in Vienna on Sunday as he takes on Daniil Medvedev in the final of the ATP 500 event, and he still has two more tournaments this year—the Masters 1000 in Paris and the season-ending ATP Finals.

At No. 4, Sinner is also tied with Panatta for highest-ranked Italian player in ATP rankings history.
