ROTTERDAM, Netherlands (AP) — Jannik Sinner eased into the final of the ABN Amro Open on Saturday in his first tournament since winning the Australian Open.

The top-seeded Sinner spoiled local hopes by ousting Dutch player Tallon Griekspoor 6-2, 6-4 in the semifinals, where Sinner also won their first matchup a year ago.

“Today I served really well. I think I made first serves on all the break points, so it’s also part of the confidence," Sinner said after the match. "In another way, I felt much better on the court today and I think that helped me today.”

His second straight Rotterdam final will be against fifth-seeded Alex de Minaur, who eliminated sixth-seeded Grigor Dimitrov 6-4, 6-3.

“It would mean a lot (to win the title),” Sinner said. “It’s a special place, as I’ve said many times. The tournament believed in me years ago, and this is my second final. Last year I lost in three sets, so every final is different.

“Let’s see what’s coming. I know (De Minaur) quite well, he knows me well, and I guess he’s going to change a couple of things. So tomorrow I have to be really prepared and ready and we will see what I am capable of.”

Sinner has a 6-0 record against the Australian.

De Minaur moved into the final after ringing in his 25th birthday with a revenge victory over Dimitrov: Last year on his birthday, De Minaur let match points slip away to Dimitrov in the quarterfinals here.

“I’m extremely happy with the level throughout the whole match,” De Minaur said on Saturday. “It was probably one of the better matches I’ve played from start to finish. Even saying that, I always know that Grigor is going to lift his level and compete until the end, and I had to fight off some pretty tough break points, when I came up with some of my best tennis.”

“That was the key today. I managed to hold onto my serve at key moments and I live to fight another day.”
