Jannik Sinner has made a winning start at Roland Garros and he’s done it in style, storming past French wild card Clement Tabur in straight sets on Tuesday night, 6-1, 6-3, 6-4.

And with that, he joins a very exclusive list.

He's just the fourth man this century to win 30 matches in a row on the tour, joining three of the biggest names in tennis history—Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.

The Italian's current streak dates back to March, bringing him five straight Masters 1000 titles at Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo, Madrid and Rome, and now one win so far in Paris.

LONGEST WINNING STREAKS SINCE 2000 (men, tour-level):

  • 43: Novak Djokovic [2010-11]
  • 41: Roger Federer [2006-07]
  • 35: Roger Federer [2005]
  • 32: Rafael Nadal [2008]
  • 30: Jannik Sinner [2026]

Carlos Alcaraz’s longest streak so far is 24 in a row, in 2025.

Tabur had never won a match at a major and the experience gap showed from the start, as Sinner stormed through the first set in just 32 minutes, breaking serve three times.

The Frenchman began settling in a little bit from there, but one break per set is all it took—in the fourth game of the second set, then the third game of the third set—for Sinner to take full control, closing the match out in straight sets after two hours and eight minutes on Court Philippe Chatrier.

He didn’t face a single break point himself all match.

And while the home crowd couldn’t propel Tabur to victory, that’s nothing new for Sinner—the Italian has never lost to a player competing at their home Grand Slam, now a nifty 20-0 overall (including 8-0 against Frenchmen at Roland Garros).

Awaiting Sinner in the second round will be Juan Manuel Cerundolo, younger brother of Francisco Cerundolo, who defeated Great Britain’s Jacob Fearnley, 6-2, 7-6 (0), 7-6 (7).

Sinner defeated Cerundolo in the pair’s only previous meeting, 6-2, 6-2, 6-2, in the first round of Wimbledon in 2023.

Cerundolo has never beaten a Top 10 player, let alone a No. 1.
