Karolina Muchova has always had a penchant for beating Top 10 players, and she took another one out in Brisbane on Thursday, ousting No. 10-ranked Ekaterina Alexandrova in the third round of the WTA 500 event, 6-4, 7-5.

It was the 16th Top 10 win of the Czech’s career, and her first in just over a year, her last one having come against a No. 4-ranked Jasmine Paolini at last year’s United Cup.

But there was something even more special about this latest win, as Muchova has now had wins over every Top 10 ranking in her career—going into Thursday afternoon's match, No. 10 was the only one she was missing.

Muchova recorded the first Top 10 win of her career at Wimbledon back in 2019, winning a dramatic 4-6, 7-5, 13-11 fourth-round decision against then-No. 3 Karolina Pliskova, which also put her through to the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam for the first time in her career.

Since then, she had also collected wins over a No. 1, No. 2, No. 4, No. 5, No. 6, No. 7, No. 8 and No. 9. And now, a No. 10.

Muchova actually isn’t that far from having wins over every Top 20 ranking, too—as of now, she’s only missing No. 11 and No. 13 among that ranking class.

Awaiting the No. 20-ranked Czech in the quarterfinals in Brisbane will be No. 5-ranked Elena Rybakina, a 6-3, 6-2 winner against Paula Badosa earlier in the day.

The two players are tied 1-1 in their head-to-head, with Rybakina winning their last meeting almost three years ago at Indian Wells in 2023, 7-6 (4), 2-6, 6-4.
