Learner Tien has captured the first ATP title of his career, winning the ATP 250 indoor hard-court event in Metz, France on Saturday.
And he did it in dramatic fashion, battling back from 5-1 down in the third set tie-break to defeat Cam Norrie in the final, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (6).
"I'm so happy. I'm so tired," a relieved Tien said in his on-court interview right after the match. "I'm so happy, I mean, I think I'll remember this for a very, very long time. I'm just so happy."
At 19 years and 11 months, Tien is now the second-youngest player ever to win the title in Metz, after a certain 24-time major winner.
YOUNGEST CHAMPIONS IN METZ (since 2003):
- 19 years, 4 months: Novak Djokovic [2006]
- 19 years, 11 months: Learner Tien [2025]
- 22 years, 7 months: Lucas Pouille [2016]
- 23 years, 0 months: Gael Monfils [2009]
- 23 years, 9 months: David Goffin [2014]
Tien is also the first American teenager to win an ATP title since Andy Roddick won Houston in 2002. Roddick was a younger 19 at the time.
