Madison Keys vs. Laura Siegemund: Match Preview

In the last match Keys played, a month ago, she lost to Siegemund 6-3, 6-3 at Wimbledon. Is she happy to have a chance at revenge so soon? Or is the German underspin artist the last person she wants to see across the net from her again?

Maybe a little of both? Even at 37, after two decades on tour and thousands of miles run on court, Siegemund remains a tough out for just about anyone. Against Keys at Wimbledon, she did what always does: She mixed hard slice with flat two-handed backhands to keep the American off-balance at all times. Keys was bending, lunging, scrambling—and rarely getting a chance to hit from a set position.

Still, Keys is ranked 46 spots higher; has a 32-10 record in 2025 compared to 16-16 for Siegemund; has a Grand Slam title on hard courts this year to her name; and has been to the final in Canada before.

Siegemund often struggles to close out matches, and also happens to be coming off a three and a half hour war with her fellow German Tatjana Maria. Even with a day of rest, that could take its toll. Winner: Keys
