Matteo Berrettini, Gael Monfils, Diego Schwartzman enter Phoenix Challenger

WATCH: Gael Monfils returned from injury in Indian Wells, and will be one of three former Top 10 players looking for wins in Phoenix.

Talk about stacked: The singles draw in next week's ATP Challenger in Phoenix, Ariz. will boast three former Top 10 players as Matteo Berrettini, Gael Monfils and Diego Schwartzman have all accepted wild cards for the event.

Berrettini made the announcement via Instagram Sunday, two days after losing to Japan's Taro Daniel in the second round of the BNP Paribas Open.

"As I’ve always done - trusting the process, working hard and staying focused," he wrote. "The season is long and I’ll be back to my best soon. I really appreciate all the support."

All three players are looking for match play, and victories, this season. After going 3-2 for runners-up Italy at the United Cup, Berrettini lost his first match in two of the three tournaments played so far this year; in Acapulco, the third, he retired due to a right leg injury against Holger Rune after losing the first seven games of their quarterfinal.

Similarly, Schwartzman has also struggled for wins; the Argentine's 6-1, 6-2 victory over compatriot Federico Coria in Indian Wells was just his second victory since the US Open, and snapped a five-match skid.

Now ranked world No. 23, Berrettini will play an ATP Challenger, the level of tournaments just below tour level, for the first time in four years. Fittingly, his last ATP Challenger appearance prior to this was also in Phoenix; ranked No. 63 in 2019, he won the title. Currently ranked No. 38, Schwartzman last competed at ATP Challenger level in 2016.

For the now-36-year-old Monfils, Phoenix is the next step on a comeback from a foot injury. The Frenchman returned from a seven-month hiatus in Indian Wells, losing 6-3, 6-1 in the opening round to Australia's Jordan Thompson.
