Mirra Andreeva continued to impress at Roland Garros on Friday, defeating Marie Bouzkova in one of the first all-seeded clashes of the tournament, 6-4, 6-2, to move into the fourth round.

With that win, Andreeva also climbs to the top of a very notable leaderboard—it was her 32nd win of the year, surpassing Elena Rybakina for the most on the women’s tour this year.

MOST WINS THIS YEAR (women, tour-level):

  • 32: Mirra Andreeva [32-9]
  • 31: Elena Rybakina [31-8]
  • 30: Elina Svitolina [30-7] (playing today)
  • 29: Aryna Sabalenka [29-3]
  • 28: Jessica Pegula [28-7]
  • 27: Sorana Cirstea [27-8] (playing today)
  • 26: Coco Gauff [26-9]

Andreeva’s season so far has been highlighted by a pair of titles, both at WTA 500 events, first on hard courts in Adelaide in January and then on indoor clay in Linz in April. She also reached the final of the WTA 1000 event in Madrid a few weeks ago, where she finished runner-up to Ukraine's Marta Kostyuk.

Andreeva had won all four of her previous meetings with Bouzkova in straight sets, and this one followed suit—although for much of the match it wasn’t a cake walk, by any means.

After eight straight holds to start the match, Andreeva finally drew first blood with a break in the ninth game for 5-4, and then comfortably served out the 54-minute first set.

After another five close games to start the second set Andreeva won three games in a row from 3-2 to close it out, hitting three winners in the last game—including a big forehand on match point—to seal the victory after an hour and 35 minutes.

Andreeva improved to 18-3 on clay this year with the win, the most clay-court wins on the women’s tour this year—an honor she already had going into the match (Kostyuk is next with 14).

Awaiting the No. 8-seeded Andreeva in the fourth round will be unseeded Swiss Jil Teichmann, who followed up her first-round upset of No. 20 seed Liudmila Samsonova with a 6-1, 7-5 surprise over No. 10 seed Karolina Muchova a little later on Friday.

Andreeva and Teichmann will be playing for the first time.
