INTERVIEW: Madison Keys and Sloane Stephens reflect on Charlotte Invitational debut

It was Friday night lights, tennis-style, in Charlotte, N.C. The stars were out in the city's Spectrum Center, which played host to former US Open champions Carlos Alcaraz and Sloane Stephens, plus American fan favorites Frances Tiafoe and Madison Keys—along with two other athletes that have experienced the traditional definition of Friday night lights.

Stephens and Keys kicked off the action.

Keys told the crowd to send her house listings in Charlotte, at husband Bjorn Fratangelo's urging.

Keys would win the friendly encounter, 7-5, 6-3.

The two each put new serves to the test, as Stephens noted afterwards.

Keys and Stephens signed as many autographs as they could before it was time to clear the court.

Frances Tiafoe and Carlos Alcaraz shared a pre-match embrace, before letting the games begin.

Alcaraz flashed his million-dollar smile from start to finish, including when a reflex volleys exchange went Tiafoe's way.

Tiafoe brought out Carolina Panthers quarterback Andy Dalton...

... and legendary Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. to rally with the Spaniard.

Both guys pulled out all the stops when it came to entertaining.

Alcaraz wowed in finishing this rally with a winning stretch volley.

But Tiafoe had the last laugh when he saved a match point before squeaking out the 5-7, 6-1 [11-9] win.
