A year ago in Paris, Coco Gauff turned heads by wearing a leather jacket for her walk-ons, and challenged fellow players to treat tennis entrances like a runway moment.

Players, brands and designers have since answered the call. At this year’s Roland Garros, some of the tournament’s biggest on-court statements came before a single ball was struck.

From Naomi Osaka’s couture-inspired looks, to Novak Djokovic’s custom wolf jacket, the walk-on has become one of tennis’s most visible stages. With cameras fixed on players from the moment they enter the stadium, the space between the tunnel and the baseline isn’t just part of the pre-match routine; it’s a fashion moment.

The Looks That Won Roland Garros 2026

🚶‍♀️ Best Walk-on: Naomi Osaka

Osaka delivered the standout fashion story of the tournament during her run to the fourth round, pairing a sequined Nike tennis dress with a series of “court-ure”-inspired outer layers.

“If I had to give a short answer, the outfit is a nod to France, to Parisian couture, and sustainability,” Osaka told Tennis Channel.

The looks were created by Swiss designer Kevin Germanier using upcycled Nike garments. Across her matches, Osaka mixed and matched pieces including a black beaded jacket, a floor-length skirt and a detachable white tulle train.

“We were trying to figure out, how do we even follow up what happened in Australia?” Osaka added. “…The designer that we did end up pairing with just kind of spoke our same language.”

🧥 Best Custom Garment: Novak Djokovic

Fans may call Djokovic the GOAT, but the 24-time Grand Slam champion has long identified with another animal: the wolf.

To mark his record-tying 22nd Roland Garros appearance, Djokovic wore a custom Lacoste jacket designed by creative director Pelagia Kolotouros. Inspired by the colors and textures of the terre-battue, the piece even incorporated real clay detailing and featured a large wolf graphic across the back.

The jacket joins a growing list of custom Lacoste creations that have made headlines on tour, following special pieces designed for both Djokovic and Venus Williams in recent seasons.

💍 Best Accessories: Aryna Sabalenka

Aryna Sabalenka’s black-and-red Nike dress had already generated buzz before Roland Garros, but the world No. 1 still found a way to stand out.

Sabalenka accessorized with a jewelry collection from sponsor Material Good featuring 23 carats of diamonds and 120 carats of garnets spread across multiple necklaces and earrings.
