For most of the match there was nothing between them, but from 2-all in the third set Taylor Fritz won four games in a row to end the breakthrough indoor season of Felix Auger-Aliassime, 7-6 (4), 6-7 (5), 6-2, and move through to the semifinals of the ATP Finals.

And in doing so, Fritz became the first American to reach the semifinals of the ATP Finals since Jack Sock in 2017 (where he ended up falling to Grigor Dimitrov in the semifinals).

Before Sock, the last American to get this far was Andy Roddick in 2007 (where he fell to David Ferrer in the semifinals).
