Jannik Sinner may not have finished the year at No. 1, but he did do something nobody else did this year—and made history by doing it.

At 24, the Italian became the youngest player ever to reach the final of all four Grand Slams and the ATP Finals in the same season.

And he won three—and almost four—of them too, capturing titles at the Australian Open, Wimbledon and ATP Finals, and finishing runner-up at Roland Garros and the US Open, falling to Carlos Alcaraz in both finals. He had triple match point against the Spaniard in Paris.

He’s the third player overall to do it at any age, after Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, who both did it twice, Federer in 2006 and 2007 (at age 25 and 26) and Djokovic in 2015 and 2023 (at age 28 and 36).

The stat dates back to 1970, when the first ATP Finals were held.

Even before his run to the ATP Finals title in Turin a few weeks ago, Sinner had already made history as the youngest man in the Open Era to reach the final of all four Grand Slams in a single season.

MEN TO REACH ALL FOUR GRAND SLAM FINALS IN A SINGLE SEASON IN THE OPEN ERA:

  • Rod Laver: 1969 (age 31)
  • Roger Federer: 2006 (age 25), 2007 (age 26), 2009 (age 28)
  • Novak Djokovic: 2015 (age 28), 2021 (age 34), 2023 (age 36)
  • Jannik Sinner: 2025 (age 24)

That stat dates back to 1969—the Open Era began in 1968, but only at Roland Garros, so only three of the four majors were held in the Open Era that year. No man reached the final of all four that year, anyway.
