Taylor Fritz has become the fifth player to qualify for this year's ATP Finals in Turin, joining Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev in the elite eight-player field.

Currently at No. 5 in the Race to the ATP Finals, Fritz—who's already through to the third round in Paris this week—secured his spot on Wednesday after Lorenzo Musetti, who's currently at No. 8 in the race standings, lost in the second round of the Masters 1000 event. With that result, the American can finish the race no lower than No. 8, guaranteeing his spot in Turin.

This is the third time Fritz has qualified for the season-ending championships, and he reached the semifinals or better the first two times—he was a semifinalist in 2022 (falling to eventual champion Djokovic) and the final in 2024 (falling to Sinner).

Fritz's qualification comes after another strong year, highlighted by an excellent grass-court season, where he captured his ninth and 10th ATP titles in Stuttgart and Eastbourne and then reached the first Wimbledon semifinal of his career (falling to Alcaraz).

In addition to that, he reached one more final a few weeks ago in Tokyo (falling again to Alcaraz), another two semifinals at Masters 1000s in Miami and Canada, and four quarterfinals in Delray Beach, Geneva, Washington D.C. and the US Open.

Other highlights include helping lead Team USA to the United Cup title at the beginning of the season, and recording his first career win over a No. 1 with his victory over Alcaraz at Laver Cup.

In terms of ranking, Fritz has spent all but one week this year in the Top 5—and he's on track for his fourth straight Top 10 finish, having ended 2022 at No. 9, 2023 at No. 10 and 2024 at No. 4.

Just three spots remain in the eight-player field at this year's ATP Finals in Turin, and it's coming down to the wire.

Ben Shelton, Alex de Minaur and Musetti are currently No. 6, No. 7 and No. 8 in the Race to the ATP Finals, but Musetti's now out of Paris, and No. 9 Felix Auger-Aliassime can still potentially pass them all—and even Fritz—and go as high as No. 5.

A few more players are still in the mix, too, should they pull off something huge in Paris this week and play an ATP 250 next week, which is the last week that counts towards the race.
