LOS ANGELES, Oct. 31, 2024 – Tennis Channel and the network’s app will have live coverage of the 2024 WTA Finals November 2-9. The event, the most exclusive in women’s tennis, showcases the eight singles players and doubles teams that earned the most tour points this year and will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Several Americans have qualified for the tournament, including singles stars Coco Gauff (ranked No. 3) and Jessica Pegula (No. 6). The action gets underway Saturday, Nov. 2, at 8:30 a.m. ET.
Each autumn the WTA Finals close the women’s tour season with a bang, pitting the best players of the year in a round-robin format that guarantees a week of head-to-head matches between the biggest names in the sport. Singles players are separated into two groups of four, with each competing against the others in her group once. The two best from each group advance to the knockout stage, with the semifinals and final at the end of the week. The doubles tournament follows the same system.
Tennis Channel’s WTA Finals coverage begins at 5 a.m. ET most days (complete schedule below). On Friday, Nov. 8, semifinal matches begin at 7:30 a.m. ET. Saturday, Nov. 9, will feature the doubles final at 8 a.m. ET, followed by the singles championship at 11 a.m. Matches will be shown as part of the channel’s worldwide Center Court programming next week, along with competition from other simultaneous events. The Tennis Channel app will offer every match of the WTA Finals live and on-demand.
The network’s on-air team during the WTA Finals includes Hall of Famer Tracy Austin (@thetracyaustin), who won the event in 1980 and reached the final in 1979. She will be joined by Chanda Rubin (@Chanda_Rubin), who earned a spot in the tournament in 2003. Longtime Tennis Channel announcer Brett Haber (@BrettHaber) will also be in the booth for select WTA Finals matches.
As with Gauff and Pegula in the WTA Finals singles draw, the doubles field is sprinkled with U.S. players this year. Taylor Townsend (No. 9) will partner with the Czech Republic’s Katerina Siniakova (No. 1) while fellow American Nicole Melichar-Martinez (No. 13) pairs with Australia’s Ellen Perez (No. 15). The team of Desirae Krawczyk (No. 11)-Caroline Dolehide (No. 12) round out the list of Americans competing in Riyadh.
The sport’s top-two ranked singles players, Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek, pace the WTA Finals field again this year. Sabalenka won titles at the Australian Open and US Open, while Swiatek won the French Open for the third consecutive time. Swiatek won the WTA Finals last year; Sabalenka reached the event’s championship match in 2022.
