What a season Cameron Norrie is having. His 6-0, 6-2, beatdown over Diego Schwartzman on Thursday marked his 45th match win of the year. The Brit’s improved fitness has allowed his high percentage game to soar to new heights.

Norrie will now take on Indian Wells’ miracle man, Grigor Dimitrov. The Bulgarian has now fought back from a set down in his last two matches against two of the tour’s hottest players in Daniil Medvedev and Hubert Hurkacz.

Norrie has yet to lose a semifinal match in 2021 (5-0).

According to the oddsmakers, this match is a straight pick-em. Scheduled for 1:30 PM under the desert sun, there’s no question this match will boil down to physical fitness. Norrie almost never attempts an ill-advised shot, while Dimitrov’s slice in these extremely slow conditions is a shot you simply cannot attack. Every time Dimitrov knifes a deep slice the point is completely reset.

But Norrie will not mind, as he is totally content with 30+ shot rallies on an every-point basis. Norrie has yet to lose a semifinal match this season, and should have the fitness edge in this totally unexpected semifinal clash.
