14—yes, 14—matches take the court as second-round play continues in Winston-Salem.

The first two second-round matches took place on Monday, with Sebastian Korda and Kamil Majchrzak setting up a third-round clash at the ATP 250 event. For Korda it was a welcome return to the tour, having been out of action since Roland Garros due to a leg injury—he defeated Vit Kopriva in straight sets in his first match back, 6-3, 6-4.

Six more Americans will try to join Korda in the third round today.

That includes one seed (No. 16 seed Marcos Giron), two unseeded players (Mackenzie McDonald and Aleksandar Kovacevic), two qualifiers (Nishesh Basavareddy and Darwin Blanch) and one wild card (Stefan Dostanic). The 17-year-old Blanch just got the first tour-level win of his career in the first round, defeating Borna Coric, and he'll now take on No. 8 seed Alexandre Muller. Dostanic, 23, also recorded his first tour-level win in the first round, over Aleksandar Vukic—he takes on No. 5 seed Lorenzo Sonego today.

Top seed Stefanos Tsitsipas plays his first match of the tournament tonight.

With the US Open just days away, the former No. 3 will try to turn his season around this week—he was ranked in the Top 10 as recently as the clay-court season, but currently finds himself down at No. 28 after having lost seven of his last 11 matches on the tour. He kicks off his campaign in the first evening match against China's Bu Yunchaokete. It's a first-time meeting, but Bu is no stranger to big wins—he's had three career wins over Top 30 players, all last fall, against Lorenzo Musetti, Andrey Rublev and Karen Khachanov.

American teenager Iva Jovic tries to reach the first WTA quarterfinal of her career in Cleveland.

The 17-year-old has had a breakthrough year, highlighted by making her Top 100 debut in June (after winning a WTA 125K event on grass) and, just last week in Cincinnati, getting her first career win over a Top 30 player with a victory over No. 23-ranked Linda Noskova in the second round of the WTA 1000 event. She's a win away from her first WTA quarterfinal—she'll face fellow American Ann Li today for a spot in the last eight at the WTA 250 event.

While the second round begins in Cleveland, the first round wraps up in Monterrey.

And there's actually a rematch of the 2024 final in the first round this year, as Noskova takes on Lulu Sun—the Czech defeated the New Zealander for the title last year, 7-6 (6), 6-4, and the two will square off again this year, except it's just for a spot in the second round of the WTA 500 event. That's one of six first-round matches on the schedule today, with Alycia Parks the lone American in action—she takes on Spain's Cristina Bucsa.
